Deepak Chopra has been an influential figure in the alternative health movement and an accomplished medical, alternative practitioner. His most significant books are Timeless Mind, Ageless Body and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, each published in 1994 and 1993 respectively. However, it wasn’t till sometime in the late eighties that he ventured into the world of self-help writing, with his first book, Think and Grow Rich.
Though a controversial figure who presents himself as a guru, his novels attract a broad assortment of readers. The principles he promotes have had the effect of establishing him as a pioneer in the alternative self-improvement circles. However, there have always been critics who question the methods that he adopts. Deepak Chopra critics claim that he takes a haphazard approach to self-improvement through motivational saying and self explanatory books. They also point out that his teachings contradict the common belief that knowledge alone will lead to self-improvement.
Deepak Chopra’s method of attaining personal development is not far removed from other alternative medicine practices. His basic premise is that you can achieve a state of personal growth by fostering positive believing in oneself and fostering one’s self-confidence level. By applying such teachings as the eight-limbed ladder of self-help, one can attain self-actualization, which then leads to the achievement of the aims set by the mind. As such, Deepak Chopra presents himself as a prominent figure within the alternative medicine community.
However, this doesn’t mean that Deepak Chopra’s influence goes beyond the boundaries of alternative medicine. He is still very much a part of the mainstream medical care community. For example, when he published the book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, he used the book to launch an initiative for the United States Army. The book was later turned into a television set and now has more than one million copies in print. There is even a picture version of the book available on DVD.
In addition, Deepak Chopra continues to hold many credentials outside of the classroom. For instance, he’s the author of numerous medical books and is a certified chiropractic physician. In addition, Deepak Chopra is a former contestant on the reality TV series”Survivor.” In this series, he was portrayed as a contestant who struggled with a severe heart condition. As a result of this, he held many talks about improving one’s self-health through diet books, seminars, and speaking engagements.
One of the things that Chopra’s talk radio shows address is self-improvement. Many of his books and videos address this matter. He discusses how to use the power of the mind to address a few of the difficulties we encounter in our lives. For example, he spoke about the need to change our negative mindset. According to Chopra, if we continue to think that way, then we’ll stay stuck in our distress.
But some people may wonder whether there’s any validity to the notion of motivational self-improvement. In response to this question, the answer is that while the idea of self-improvement might be new to most people, self-help in general is a relatively long tradition. Many ancient philosophies, religious texts, and motivational speakers have addressed the issue of self-improvement. The majority of these have also tried to make sense of the idea of self-improvement and motivation.
By way of example, a number of the top speakers will tackle issues such as self-esteem, confidence, motivation, and perseverance. All these are important and can contribute to our overall happiness and well-being. What many speakers do is emphasize that there are many ways to approach self-improvement. They encourage us to think of what it means to be motivated. As they state,”motivation begins with a desire to change.”
